Instagram is getting ahead of the game once again and making sure that it is its only competition. Instagram has recently updated, and now Facebook and Instagram DMs are merged. Instagram knew that plenty of people, whether disgruntled teens who don’t want to speak to their relatives or just anyone who doesn’t want their Facebook life mixing with their Instagram account, would be looking for an alternative to the app. That’s where Threads came in.
Instagram gave them their alternative, and it looks like this was a good call! Threads is Instagram’s new messaging app.
Instagram’s reviews have plummeted since the last update. Users are unhappy with the new placement of reels and ads. They are also are annoyed at the shop tab placed where their “new post” function used to be.
Threads put a focus on close friends, allowing users to see messages, statuses, and stories from close friends first. It also allows you to chat with anyone on Instagram from Threads, even if they don’t have Threads. Instagram Threads includes some of the features that were very well received from Instagram. Features such as the new customization, allowing users to personalize the color of their app and icon.
This has allowed Instagram to maintain the traffic from disgruntled users and stops them from uninstalling the Instagram app.
Although the category rankings may increase as a result of many other factors such as ASO efforts or an effective ad strategy. In this case, the immediacy of the spike and drop in Instagram and Instagram Threads right at the point of the latest update could indicate that Instagram users might be moving over to Instagram Threads. It seems that Instagram was able to recuperate its unhappy customers and move them over to threads.
